On to the fond memories I have of living, working and playing with my many Amish friends.

Growing up in Elkhart county was different from most counties. My friend Steve and I would go for bike rides on the country roads. Like most county roads we would see animals, birds, tractors and really neat stuff like that, but the difference being in Elkhart county was we were in the middle of the second largest Amish community in the world.

Behind a tractor going down a dirt road would be a couple of Amish buggies or carts. I was always curious about these people in plain clothes riding behind a horse. They would always wave from their old-fashioned ride or when we rode past their farm house, but I never got to know them until I was an adult.
